King of Angels Christmas Album by Kate Stanford

How often do I get stuck in my ways? Too often. Listening to Kate’s album is a creative kick in the pants. Her work with Cindy Morgan reminds me not to get stuck in formulas. Part of us being in the image of God is the ability to be creative. Instead of a new voice singing the same Christmas songs we know, here we have a new voice with a new interpretation and arrangement.

What can I do to make Christmas different, yet bring home the same message of Love, Hope and Grace?

In helping my Bible study prepare for the season, I took a clue from O.S. Hawkins. In a section of his book he asked what words we could repeat from Jesus’ father Joseph? The answer is none. None are recorded. Yet, his faithfulness in acting upon God’s message through the angel speaks volumes. What did he say as he taught Jesus to be a carpenter? We don’t know. What ever this quiet man did, just like his wife, he did out of a strong faith in his God. That was passed on to his son.

That led our study to consider Christmas from a different point of view. Those not in the limelight. How important their actions are. As Paul tells us, all the parts of the body working together, build it up in Jesus.

Do you see what you do as unimportant? Unnecessary? Never having an impact? Review that perspective and take from what Joseph did as validation that in the quietness of the background you can have a powerful impact.
